DTRACK4 licensing

What a DTRACK4 license covers, how ART defines updates and upgrades, copy protection, the upgrade path for DTRACK1/2/3 users, hardware compatibility, and PC requirements.

What one license covers

A DTRACK4 license lets you use your DTRACK system without limitation on the number of cameras, targets, or other peripherals. Licensing is kept as simple as possible.

For the full DTRACK4 feature list, see DTRACK4 features.

How ART defines updates and upgrades

New features are introduced in minor releases labelled v4.x.0 — these count as upgrades.

Patches such as 4.x.y include bug fixes and small improvements.

Your license includes patch updates for the DTRACK4 minor version you are licensed for, for as long as your warranty applies.

Example: you run v4.1.0 and can update to every v4.1.x release published during the warranty period.

Future cameras, hardware, or features may require a newer DTRACK4 minor release. You can buy a separate upgrade license with a one-year term starting on the purchase date. During that year, you receive every DTRACK4 patch release ART publishes for the upgraded minor version.

Copy protection (dongle)

DTRACK4 licenses are tied to a hardware dongle:

  • A CmStick USB dongle from Wibu-Systems is required.
  • The standard dongle also works as a USB storage device and holds your DTRACK4 configuration — for example room calibration and output channels (it appears with a drive letter on your PC).
  • If your IT policy forbids USB storage devices, ART can supply a custom dongle without storage for an additional fee. This variant cannot migrate settings between workstations as easily as the standard dongle.

Upgrade path for pre-DTRACK4 users

We value long-standing ART customers and offer an upgrade path for all DTRACK1, DTRACK2, and DTRACK3 users.

The DTRACK4 license is heavily discounted when you return your existing hardware dongle (SyncCard 1, 2, or 3), a complete DTRACK1 PC, or a DTRACK2/3 Controller to ART.

If the required hardware cannot be returned, regular pricing applies.

Requirements for switching to DTRACK4

A valid DTRACK4 license is essential — and so is compatible hardware and a suitable Windows PC (see PC requirements below).

  • ARTTRACK5(/C) systems need at least one ARTTRACK6/M, AT7-50, or AT7-80 camera to operate with DTRACK4.
  • DTRACK4 is not compatible with ARTTRACK1/2/3, TRACKPACK(/E) systems, or standalone SMARTTRACK/3/M devices.
  • External synchronization is not available in DTRACK4 (planned for a future minor release).

PC requirements

Minimum specification for the DTRACK4 tracking PC:

  • Processor: at least Intel Core i3-13100, i3-14100, or Core Ultra 5 225 (13th, 14th, or 15th generation Intel CPUs)
  • Network: two Gigabit Ethernet adapters with jumbo frame support (up to 9 KB) — see the user's guide, p. 30
  • Operating system: Windows 11 — see the installation guide, p. 26
