Human-machine systems engineering

At the University of Kassel, the Human-Machine Systems Engineering department researches user-centered configurations of effective human-robot systems — interdisciplinary and application-driven.

Tracking setup

The tracking volume (approx. 3.5 × 3.5 × 2.8 m) was implemented with multiple ART cameras, enabling precise real-time localization of real objects.

Applications

  • Ergonomics: Full motion capture target set for posture and movement analysis with RAMSIS and AnyBody
  • AR control: Head-mounted display position via passive hand target — control of a stereo camera system on a teleoperated mobile robot
  • Gesture control: Finger tracking for teleoperation of drones and mobile robots

Why ART?

Complete tracking package from a single source — cameras, body, head, and finger tracking with the precision and stability required for ergonomic studies and robotics applications.
